About the LEDE
Educator Development E-learning Modules reach out to
Language instructors and preservice teachers as they continue
their professional growth as world language educators. These
modules assist with the integration of Standards
for Learning World Languages, Curriculum Planning, and Performance-based
Assessment. In addition, they help educators meet some of the
requirements of National Board Certification and the new WI
Professional Development Plan.
Note to pre-service
teachers: To benefit more fully from these modules,
it is recommended that at a minimum pre-service teachers have
or currently are in the process of observing a practicing world
Each module is made up of multiple sections
that are designed to take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Some sections may require additional time for reading. The module
sections include: remember, learn, connect-reflect. Some modules
may have multiple instances of a section and/or include
an expansion activity.
this part activates background knowledge and requires the user
to consider their current teaching practices.
this part is an introduction to the content to be learned and
requires additional outside reading.
this part is a check of the users new knowledge and an opportunity
to reflect back on current teaching practices and consider
future applications in light of this new knowledge.
The Knowledge Base provides
a variety of resources to assist in completing the modules as
well as additional information on technology integration in language
instruction and web resources of interest to language teaching
In order to complete the modules you will need
to purchase the Planning Curriculum for Learning World Languages guide,
available through the Wisconsin
Dept. of Public Instruction. In various parts of the modules
you may see the title of this publication abbreviated as LWL.
Access to all modules is free to members. Just click on the links in the left hand side bar to go to the pages you want. You need to use your WAFLT login to go beyond the Standards Module.
Non-members have access to the Standards module for free to get a taste of the content and structure of the LEDE modules.
